Salcom is a small New Zealand Company specializing in data communication using wireless technology. The company was founded by three engineers and for more than thirty years has been prominent in the design of radio communication systems.
Its product lines are used in key communication systems in transport industries, health and safety and in the delivery of emergency services for St John and Fire and Emergency NZ. approximately 35% of production is marked overseas, mainly to the United Kingdom and Europe. From early concept through design, development and production, Salcom is well placed in the industry meeting customers specialized needs.
Scope of the Role
The role of the Test Technician is to work primarily within production to complete run up testing of products. There is also a need to provide support to the systems and engineering teams to iron out bugs in both legacy and new products. Technician input will be required to improve finished products and to assist in the building of systems.
The Test Technician will need to be confident in reading schematic diagrams and overlays. If successful for an interview, practical demonstration will be required. Diagnosing faults and repairing products. Confident user of the Microsoft Office suite, Excel.
As this role relies on many moving parts, it is essential that the incumbent can work within our internal teams to ensure production runs smoothly. This role needs a good communicator, have an attention to detail, and be able to work well under pressure while staying calm.
Salcom has an ISO 9001 quality standard registration and the incumbent will need to have an appreciation and understanding of quality management systems and practice.
