This employer is a well-established, industry leading construction company with over 10 years’ experience. With offices in both Christchurch and Auckland, they specialise in insurance repairs, renovations, and new builds.
Due to their growth, they are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Christchurch team. This role will offer exposure to a wide range of construction projects and there will be the opportunity to develop your professional skills and be involved with the strategic direction of the business.
The successful candidate must have experience in the pricing and management of new build residential projects. They will be responsible for overseeing the Quantity Surveying team and have a strong working relationship with General Manager, Operations Manager and Project Managers.
To be successful in this role you must be/have:
- Sound construction knowledge
- Proven ability to build rapport with clients, confident in ensuring the delivery of excellent service
- Enjoy working in a team environment, while being able to self-manage your workflow and deliver to tight timeframes
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good analytics, reporting, forecasting skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Relevant NZ Quantity Surveying or Construction Management Qualification (desirable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
The role will include:
- Monitoring financial progress on jobs
- Managing the Quantity Surveying team
- Participate in the strategic direction and planning of the business
- Accurately price jobs
- Plan, monitor and control costs
- Back cost and hindsight review
- Continual process improvement
- Strong understanding of construction contracts
- Ensure jobs run to budget and time
- Monitor schedules, track variations and scope changes
