Here's what you can expect from this role:
* Find innovative ways of generating positive publicity
* Field media enquiries as the first point of contact, and source responses for reporters
* Deliver high-quality comms-related advice & collateral, including releases, Q&A preparation and comprehensive comms plans
* Collaborate and build strong relationships across the company to deliver timely, accurate and compelling communications collateral
* Identify issues and risk, coming up with solutions to mitigate where possible
* Build and maintain a strong network of media contacts
* Run point on campaigns and big pieces of work
* Work to deadlines for regular media releases and maximise media coverage for these
* Media train spokespeople
* Front media on behalf of the company
* Drive media analysis tools
* Be comfortable working with data and comfortable sniffing out a story within the numbers
* Some on-call and out-of-hours work
What you will bring to the team:
Experience
* 5+ years experience in a similar corporate communications role
* Tertiary qualification related to marketing, public relations or communications
* Strong media relations experience within Aotearoa
* Agency experience would be a bonusCompetencies
* Solid understanding of the media landscape in Aotearoa and a strong network of contacts
* Initiative - able to identify opportunities, risks and issues and jump on them
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a fast paced environment where no day is the same
* Confident with analysing and interpreting data
* Excellent writing and copy skills
* Commercially minded
* Flexibility and adaptability
