The Senior Communications Advisor takes a lead role in providing strategic communications and engagement advice and expertise to the managers and kaimahi (staff) of this employer to support their vision of safe water every day for everyone.
The Senior Advisor is part of a team of communications and engagement professionals who work across the business to deliver the communications and engagement function in a meaningful way to meet the needs of their diverse stakeholders and audiences.
You will
- Contribute to an integrated communications and engagement approach.
- Develop and implement internal and external communication and engagement strategies and plans.
- Develop and implement public and supplier education campaigns to raise awareness and change the behaviour of the water services sector and the public.
- Partner with business rōpū (groups) to provide leadership, account management for specific communications projects or initiatives.
- Provide communications and engagement advice and expertise to KOPA (Leadership Team), managers and kaimahi.
- Innovation and creativity are key drivers in the way they work – their size requires us to be smart and agile.

They are looking for someone who:
- Is a true communications generalist with experience in depth and breadth of communications.
- Demonstrates commitment to the principles and provisions of Tiriti o Waitangi and understanding of te ao Māori.
- Has experience in account management or partnering with the business to manage portfolios of work, ideally in a government setting.
- Has experience implementing public education campaigns or behaviour change campaigns.
- Can work through significant amounts of ambiguity and complexity.
- Ideally has experience communicating with Māori audiences.
