The Role
This role is vital for ensuring accurate accounting practices and strong financial stewardship to support the organization's community services.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a wide range of financial duties, including:
- Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Overseeing accounts payable and receivable, including management of donations and crown funding.
- Managing payroll processing and ensuring full compliance with New Zealand employment regulations.
- Reviewing GST returns and other statutory financial reports.
- Assisting in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitoring cash flow and maintaining banking relationships.
- Supporting annual audit processes and liaising with external auditors.
- Providing financial analysis and reports to management and the Board.
- Ensuring compliance with charity reporting requirements and the Charities Act.
- Maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
- Assisting with funding applications by providing necessary financial information.
About You
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Working towards CA/CPA qualification or an equivalent accounting qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Preferred: Experience with not-for-profit or charitable organisation accounting.
