Procurement Controller- Trainee

A genuine & fantastic opportunity for a person who is currently working as perhaps a Receptionist/Administrator; or maybe you are an Accounts Person and you are ready for a career change to learn new skills.

Our client is a well respected, stable & successful mid-large business in Tauranga (approximately 100 staff).  As the company is growing significantly the Supply Chain Manager needs assistance.  We are seeking a 'can-do' person who is genuinely passionate about learning new skills in Supply Chain.  The role has a specific focus on Procurement.

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise, problem solve and rectify issues
  • Computer literate - Excel, Word, Outlook, and able to pick up new systems quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team Player and be a confident communicator with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers and management
  • A background in some level of purchasing is ideal, however not essential as it's about your passion and personality.

The role & key tasks
Through your ongoing induction and with the full support of your manager, you will ultimately learn skills to support the following position brief:

  • Manage supplies of raw materials drawing on historical demand, relating to base forecasts & evaluating forward orders and/or large projects in order to understand purchasing patterns
  • Utilise the company's specialist Material Planning Software Package, part of Greentree
  • Liaise with stakeholders within the business on supply requirements, including Regulatory Compliance Manager, Sales Manager etc
  • Consult with the Finance Manager to ensure correct landed costs of raw materials and/or finished products
  • Evaluate new raw materials as required, liaising with team members where you will understand basic concepts of registered use
  • Run orders for importing of finished product, working through shipping options etc
