About the role:
This is a diverse and interesting role for an experienced Leader who enjoys being at the forefront of warehouse & transport operations to create a cost effective and sustainable world class customer service experience. You will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager and have 3 direct reports across 2 locations.
Some key day to day tasks:
- Lead the Safety for the National Warehouse and Logistics footprint
- Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with NZ Occupational Health & Safety Policy & Procedures.
- Supervise and control flow related to raw materials, consumables and finished goods.
- Ensure Warehouse management and physical storage maintains Product Control Inventory accuracy and condition.
- Lead the relationship with Transport providers - regularly review Transport Providers service and spend to ensure cost optimisation for the business.
- Monitor performance through following up with Suppliers and conducting analysis of the delivery process.
- Measure and follow up key performance indicators.
- Direct the assignment of work for the most efficient use of personnel and equipment – find the optimal balance between Warehouse activity and transport efficiency.
- Instil a continuous improvement focus to the team.
- Manage transportation safety and chain of responsibility requirements.
- Align with Transport broker and Procurement in performance reviews and with direct engagement of suppliers.
- Maintain SOP for the safe handling and storage of the product nationwide.
- Advise and support outsource initiatives through creation of standards around drumming, packaging and containerisation of inbound finished goods and raw materials.
Whilst some of your tasks will be hands on in the warehouse you will also support, mentor and train staff to enable them to grow. They are looking for a visible manager who can drive change around systems and processes. 50% of the product is imported so an understanding of import processes, supply demand complexities and land transportation costs and processes is highly desirable.
The perfect fit would:
- Have at least 5 years’ industry experience in warehousing and/or transport management
- Demonstrate leadership skills in managing warehousing staff
- Have experience in a 3PL environment
- SAP exposure is an advantage
- Bring a strong H&S discipline
- Be an effective communicator who is empowering and influential
