Learning Support Coordinator

Primary and Intermediate Education

We want an LSC who gets positively involved in all that is going on, is flexible, is a genuine team player, understands the needs of the school, and thinks of the kids’ conditions before their own

• Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi
• Certificated teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts
• PTSAR
• U8, 920+ students, Decile 1. Permanent Scale A LSC

Who We Are Looking For

We want an individual who will make an impact on our staff for kids, who can influence and gain commitment, whilst employing thoughtful, caring, deliberate and systematic strategies to help with positive action and improvement to achieve meaningful results with our students learning.

People who are active participants moving to the vibe of our school, and so we want an LSC who gets positively involved in all that is going on, is flexible, is a genuine team player, understands the needs of the school, and thinks of the kids’ conditions before their own! Passionate about inclusive education you will have the ability to work closely with our DP: Guidance and Support and be able to help support our children who have additional learning needs, enabling them to access services they need to progress in ways that recognise their identity, language and culture. You will work to build the learning support capability of teachers, and to help identify and plan for the learning support needs of all students in our school.

Applicants will have:

  • Proven experience as a highly-skilled, effective, passionate and experienced practitioner, who is fully involved, and a positive team player
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, genuinely interested in the work you do
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills; attentive to paperwork and capable of working in an agile and flexible manner
  • Demonstrated successful experience in identifying and planning for the individual support needs of students with relevant programmes and projects
  • A sound knowledge, commitment to, and understanding of the learning support system and the learning support action plan priorities
  • The ability to engage, influence and work closely with all stakeholders in the school, including whānau and numerous sector agencies
  • A sound understanding of and respect for the cultural backgrounds of our learners
