This employer is a leading distributor of electrical components both within New Zealand and abroad.  Representing a range of innovative home and international brands, they also specialises in custom-designed solutions.

They are looking for a Health Safety and Environmental Co-Ordinator (HSE Coordinator) to join their Christchurch team. They are looking for a positive person, who is engaging and can get people on board as they focus on process improvement. You will need to be comfortable to question the status quo and initiate change for the better.

The HSE Co-Ordinator will be responsible for overseeing the company’s health and safety program, process and compliance and ensuring the company's procedures comply with regulatory and internal policy across New Zealand. In essence, they will work to ensure that employees can complete their work safely.

The HSE Co-Ordinator will develop, implement and oversee the company environmental management systems.  A key focus of the role will be promoting sustainable practices in the business.

To be successful in this role you must be/have:

  • Health and safety qualification and/or 2-5 years’ experience working in a Health and Safety role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Process-driven
  • Experience writing SOP’s
  • Committed to ensuring all health and safety obligations and processes are met
  • Advanced computer skills with excellent reporting and analytical skills
  • Assertive and confident communicator

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Risk Reviews across the business
  • Being responsible for all H&S documentation, reviewing, updating, and implementing.
  • Training of managers and employees
  • Process compliance and improvement
  • Monthly audits
  • Environmental Coordination
