As a dedicated Health & Safety practitioner you'll be driven to support the business as a positive influencer and champion of health and safety tasked with driving excellence in Health & Safety culture and management across the business. Reporting into the Divisional Operations Manager, this is a key role servicing one of 3 key operational divisions with a number of internal and external stakeholders, colleagues and contractors to consider. Overseeing and driving improvement in the health & safety systems management for this aspect of the business is crucial.
Some key duties within the role include:
- Leading and advocating for this division's HS Culture Change Programme and role modeling required behaviours and standards.
- Providing Health & Safety leadership, mentoring & guidance to your business area and contractors
- Leading and developing the 3 year HS plan and aligning to broader business objectives
- Driving systems management and implementing/improving key HS processes
- Auditing and monitoring compliance standards
- Working with Forests staff and contractors to monitor and improve HS standards
- Driving H&S communication across and throughout the business to ultimately get everyone home safely everyday
A bit about you:You’ll be experienced in HSE advisor level roles, and hold an appropriate qualification in health and safety or associated fields. You’ll also be well versed in the current health and safety legislation and its application in a New Zealand manufacturing (or related) industry context. You’ll enjoy engaging with people at all levels of a business, and thrive on enabling people to educate themselves on key H&S principles and practices. You’ll naturally enjoy driving the right behaviours whilst instilling a culture of HS effectiveness and engagement at all levels; and contractor engagement experience is a must.
