This employer has full time Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) positions available to deliver services in GP practices located in the Wellington area.
This role will see you working at the Wellington-based GP clinics providing mental/physical health and general well-being support. The role is based on the Behavioural Health Consultancy (BHC) model which has been tested and adapted for the New Zealand setting. This a generalist role who works alongside the GP team, peer health coaches and community support workers in an integrated manner.
The role has three aspects:
- Working with GP clients providing brief psychological interventions particularly Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) as well as delivering evidence based-group programmes.
- Supporting, upskilling and educating the general practice team
- Supporting local population health by developing group pathways based on clinic needs
Provision of training and supervision can also be part of the role.
You will have:
- A post-graduate qualification enabling you to work therapeutically with clients (i.e. psychologist, psychotherapist, mental health nurse, social worker, occupational therapist or an AOD counsellor)
- Registration with a registering body under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) and full membership with a Professional Association for your profession
- Experience working with clients and their whanau in a clinical setting
- Experience in working in evidence-based therapeutic models, particularly brief psychological interventions
- Experience and/or enthusiasm for delivering group programmes
- An interest in talking therapies
