Formulation Scientist (Veterinary Pharmaceuticals)

This employer is a leader in the development and supply of innovative animal health solutions. Founded in 2011, they lead the way in the development and supply of parasite control solutions to veterinary practices around the country.  As they continue to grow their market in both NZ and Australia, a need has arisen for a talented Formulation Scientist to join their team.

The Role
Due to business growth, a career opportunity for a hands on Formulation Scientist in East Tamaki has become available. A skilled scientist is being sought with experience in oral, injectable, and topical drug product formats. As a Formulation Scientist, you will need curiosity and problem-solving skills to develop marketable formulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquire familiarity with the veterinary market and identifying potential opportunities for new products.
  • Creatie strategic plans for developing new formulations that align with clinical objectives.
  • Innovate various types of veterinary product formulations, such as topicals, orals, injectables, pastes, and tablets.
  • Possess solid theoretical expertise, prepare and characterise pharmaceutical formulations.
  • Produce development narratives suitable for patent applications.
  • Collaborating with external suppliers to expand production and facilitate the transfer of formulation processes.
  • Plan experiments and write protocols, maintaining thorough documentation of development plans and outcomes.

Skills & Experience

  • Masters in Pharmacy or other relevant qualification.
  • Previous experience in formulation research and development in a pharmaceutical organization or drug research laboratory.
  • Strong understanding of international pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation of various protocols/documents such as: Pre-formulation study protocols, Stability study protocols, process validation protocols, technology transfer documents.
  • cGMP, ACVM, APVMA experience will be an advantage
