About
Working within this primary industry key player, this role is pivotal in the organisation's engagement with the Unions and in ensuring a positive and proactive approach to dealing with conflict, and leadership development across this thriving and established organisation.
This employer is seeking a strong ER-focused human resources professional who understands how to partner across the business to determine cultural and organisational challenges whilst identifying practical and efficient solutions that minimise the need for escalation. They aim to find a negotiator, an outcomes-focused leader who will be the go-to for all levels.
This role will require you to:
- manage and support strategic union engagement to enable fair outcomes for workers and the business.
- Forge strong working relationships across all facets of the business, and be at ease working with top line management (senior management and C-suite) as well as manufacturing staff who deliver productivity at the coal face.
- have the ability to understand the organisation's history whilst enabling it to pivot towards a solutions-focused, people-centered approach.
- identify root causes quickly, and find unique approaches to positively influence change at various levels of the organisation.
- be passionate about enabling leaders to better manage conflict as it arises, with escalation only being the last available option.
- Work closely with other HR leaders to promote key project delivery and the impacts for better business outcomes.
Whilst this role is all about people, employment relations and engagement in the workplace, those with strong operational leadership and ER experience would also be considered - as it's really useful in this role to understand the operational side of the equation. Equally you may have history working in the Unions - this too would be unique for this role, but certainly looked upon favourably.
You’ll understand the need to be aligned both to the commercial realities of business, and also mentoring and coaching leaders to lead, rather than to just lean on HR.
You will ideally bring the following:
- tertiary qualification in human resources or related discipline, with at least 5 years of practical experience embedding your ideas and understanding
- demonstrable success in union interactions and engagement, and an understanding of complex unionised manufacturing environments.
- strong interpersonal and relationship development skills.
- strategic awareness, and ability to influence, negotiate and analyse.
- willingness to lead by doing; enabling leaders to develop and grow through practical engagement and enablement.
What’s in it for you?
- An autonomous role, whilst having a strong HR team to lean on.
- A long list of tangible benefits, too long to list here!
- A competitive annual total package in the range of $145-160k.
