Main responsibilities:
In this Christchurch based role you will be a major contributor to the new product design and development, product standardisation and repeatability and the usability of intelligent data for monitoring and management of products. Working at the cutting edge of this technology, you will be involved in continuous improvement of the health of the product and ongoing research into value-add for the organisation and its customers.
Your key tasks will be:
- Translating product and project requirements into electrical functional/performance requirements and technical solutions
- Delivery of electrical designs and BOMs
- Risk management of electrical product and project technical risks and issues
- Obtaining of product and project costing information from the Supply Chain team
- Supply of electrical project effort and duration estimates
- Periodical 24hr/7day on-call customer support (shared on a roster with other engineers)
- Occasional travel for: FAT, site installation/commissioning, SAT
- Attending planned conference calls outside of normal business hours
- Providing successful resolution to customer product issues
- Working closely with the product development among the CoEs to improve products
Expected experience:
- Extensive engineering background in Industrial Automation
- Detailed understanding of all aspects of electrical automation systems
- Skilled and proven experience in the core principles of product design and development
Desirable experience:
- Know-how in SCADA/HMI systems, IP Networks, variable frequency drives, mobile control configuration, and/or hydraulic systems
- Knowledgeable with PLC programming particularly on B&R or Rockwell platforms
- Proficiency in version control systems and software development processes
- Read/write electrical/hydraulic diagram proficiency
Ideally you will have an Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent background and sound experience in electrical automation engineering in a product development environment, gained within a global, multicultural environment. You will have excellent communication skills, be a good team player and have the desire to be the best you can.
