About the Job
People who experience disability have an increased risk of physical health and mental health difficulties particularly as they age. Internally you'll be called a Health Advisor, but essentially you are a Registered Nurse supporting clients and colleagues in the community. You'll be one of three Health Advisors in Christchurch. This job is key in providing clinical advice to your colleagues and nursing oversight to people living in the community.
You will be responsible for:
- Promoting the health and wellbeing of the people you support
- Early identification of health issues and interventions to assist
- Advocating for access to primary and secondary health services
- Leading oversight of effective delivery of clinical services
- Involvement in creation and review of care and service plans.
- Signing off Support Worker competencies
This position is 40 hours a week. You’ll be based in beautiful new offices on the outskirts of Christchurch close to the airport. You’ll need presence in the residential homes during the day, but we are happy for you to work from home, around your family commitments too.
About you
- A Registered Nurse with Annual Practicing Certificate
- Passionate about advocacy, seeing vulnerable people living life to their fullest, and as independently as possible
- Technologically savvy. Able to work on and offline and with various systems.
- Good clinical assessment, judgment and decision making skills
- Broad nursing background - Ideally from rehab, community, aged care disability, mental health or medical nursing. You’ll be familiar with choking risks, restraints, hoists, risk appraisals, falls etc…
- Self motivated, proactive, able to work autonomously whilst maintaining strong connections with colleagues, providers, residents and families.
