Founding Dean

• Served as the founding chief academic leader for the open-education-oriented college
• Built and launched a low-cost, entirely OER (open education resources)-based bachelor's degree program (Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies (BSPr)) for over 3,000 non-traditional learners.
• Created an extensively tested outcomes-based and performance-based method for assessing student learning through portfolios. Project-based Assessments of New Learning (PANeLs) opened up pathways for hundreds of students to earn credit for OER coursework.
• Through extensive internal and external assessment, negotiation, and relationship-building, obtained approval from regional accrediting body (The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) for this program's framework, curriculum, and approach to prior learning assessment (PLA).
