The Opportunity
Energy & Utilities business is seeking a Telecommunications Service Technician to join their great team. Reporting to the Field Manager your key responsibilities will include:
- Install, configure, and maintain fibre optic, copper, and wireless telecommunications network equipment and cabling
- Diagnose, locate, and repair network faults efficiently to minimise service disruption
- Use specialised testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, Light Source/Power Meter, VFL) to test network performance and integrity
- Perform routine network inspections and preventative maintenance
Important Skills
- Proven hands-on experience as a Telecommunications Technician or a similar field role (minimum 3 years)
- NZQA Level 3 Telecommunications Certificate or equivalent preferred
- Current Class 1 Drivers Licence
- Practical knowledge of fibre splicing, termination, and testing
- Familiarity with working in a safety-critical environment and a strong commitment to safe work practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
