Senior Backend Engineer

The role:

Our contact is looking for a hands-on technical leader to join a small, product-focused engineering team building resilient, scalable systems that connect physical devices to intelligent cloud platforms.As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll lead by example - architecting solutions, mentoring peers, and delivering production-ready systems that power real-world outcomes. You’ll have the autonomy to make meaningful technical decisions while working alongside a highly capable, collaborative team.

What you’ll do

  • Design and build backend services and APIs in Python.
  • Architect event-driven and serverless systems on AWS using Lambda, DynamoDB, Cognito, and CDK.
  • Champion reliability and quality through CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and observability.
  • Lead and mentor engineers—setting standards, conducting reviews, and encouraging technical growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, hardware, and operations teams to deliver seamless, end-to-end experiences.

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years in backend engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or technical leadership capacity.
  • Deep Python expertise - comfortable with coding, packaging, testing, and performance tuning.
  • Strong AWS knowledge, particularly in serverless and distributed architectures.
  • A solid grasp of system design principles: reliability, scalability, fault tolerance, and cost awareness.
  • A DevOps mindset—familiar with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and modern observability practices.
  • Leadership qualities grounded in empathy, clarity, and a bias for practical action.
