About the organisation
Founded in 1996, this leading provider of rehabilitation in New Zealand has specialist intensive and residential sites in Auckland and Wellington for people with TBI. They also provide community rehabilitation for those with TBI and other injuries and specialist paediatric services nationwide. Their team of 300 includes medical specialists, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, nursing, social work, dietitian and rehab assistants. All are outcomes focussed and committed to working towards client and family goals.
About the Job
- Working in partnership with clients and their families / whanau and alongside the interdisciplinary team
- These clients have acquired brain injury and high cognitive and medical needs. They are medically stable on admission but not without medical complexity (ie: tracheostomy, PEG fed, craniotomy)
- Assess, develop and implement rehabilitation plans, provide direction, delegation and mentoring to EN’s and Rehab Assistants
- Rostered and rotating shifts across a 7 day inpatient service based in Porirua (some flexibility - if you prefer nights only, or Sundays off for Church for example..)
- Based in Porirua. Work in a new, purpose built 25 bed facility with single rooms and excellent amenities designed for the delivery of best practise rehab activities / services
About you
- A Registered Nurse with current APC and a passion for neuro / rehab nursing (we will consider CAP nurses and new Graduates)
- Passion and attitude is paramount therefore we will consider all nursing backgrounds and provide specialty training. Experience in brain injury, neurology, rehabilitation, dementia, mental health or similar areas is useful.
- Compassion, empathy, patience and excellent communication is essential. Often the clients and their families have had their lives turned upside down overnight
- You’ll have good assessment skills and like to work in an interdisciplinary way.
- We’re flexible around your vaccination status . Whilst we strongly encourage uptake of the booster doses, we are able to employ those without vaccination (with extra H&S precautions when working with COVID positive clients).
