About
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced microbiologist to join a Wellington based team as a Principal Advisor Microbiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing scientific input to standard setting and regulatory activities, helping to develop food standards, contributing to operational policies, as well as building and maintaining relationships within industry and government bodies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert scientific input into standard setting and regulatory activities related to microbiology and food safety
- Develop and review food standards related to microbiology and food safety
- Build and maintain relationships with industry and government stakeholders to ensure the effective communication and implementation of policies and standards
- Assist in the response to complex microbiological incidents, providing technical advice and support as required
- Provide guidance and training to other members of the team on microbiological matters
- Keep up-to-date with relevant scientific and technical developments in the field of microbiology and food safety
Requirements:
- PhD in Microbiology or a related field
- Significant experience working in microbiology, food safety, or a related field
- Demonstrated expertise in microbiology, including experience with risk assessment, hazard analysis, and epidemiology
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and standards
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically
