Primary Mental Health Practitioner - Improving mental health outcomes through appropriate cultural services.

About

We are committed to improving health outcomes for our communities through effective primary health care being one of the largest primary health organisation (PHO) in the Wellington region. Through innovation, quality services, strong inter-service working relationships and a person-centred approach we believe in providing care closest to a person's home. Our primary mental health services are focused on delivering culturally appropriate interventions.

As well as caring for our community, we take great pride in looking after our team. We offer a supportive environment where you will develop your skills in brief interventions, assessment and treatment planning and delivery of a range of health and social interventions. You will be a valuable member of our team whilst we support you to grow and develop your career pathway through an abundance of supervision and training opportunities.

We have a great opportunity for qualified health professionals to join our team.i.e.: Clinical or Health Psychologist, Counsellor, Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or AOD Clinician

These roles work across the life span; however, this role will offer an enhanced opportunity to work with the 18-25 year old age group to enrich their lives, build resilience and develop new skills. There is the opportunity to engage and support family/whanau involvement

We understand that to address poor health outcomes for Maori and Pacific communities, we need to create a team that is diverse and knowledgeable in this area. In that sense, a strong cultural awareness/background to assist Maori and Pacific communities with maintaining mental wellness would provide invaluable knowledge for you to succeed in your new role.

You will also:

  • Have a can-do attitude
  • Be qualified in Health, Counselling or Social Services (with 2-5 years of experience)
  • Be registered with an appropriate Health or Social Wellbeing body (or awaiting results)
  • Be prepared to undergo further training in CBT, Brief Interventions, and uptake other training opportunities
