Maintenance Fitter

Trades & Services

Join one of NZ's most prestigious brands as they work to keep their crucial fleet on the road and delivering an important service to the region.

About

This employer is NZ's leading brands in their field. Their work in the environmental space is going from strength to strength, and they are seeking an experienced maintenance fitter to join the team on this key site, reporting into the Vehicle Maintenance Manager.

Working in Hornby, this site manages and maintains a wide range of trucking fleet which are crucial in the delivery of key regional services to the public. Not simple cab and chassis environments, there are a range of lifters, hooks and gantries attached to this fleet, meaning there is a need for both hydraulics experience, and ideally an electrical exposure (though not critical).

You'll have trade qualifications and plenty of welding experience. You'll also be comfortable working on plant maintenance, hydraulics and a wide range of heavy machinery. This role is varied and requires a good all-rounder who is keen to muck in no matter the challenge that is thrown your way.

Ideally you will be happy to work independently whilst playing your part as a key team person where required for larger projects.  Given the nature of some of the work, you'll be comfortable working in hazardous environments, and you will recognise the need for high focus around H&S to ensure a safe operating environment.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Inspection and maintenance of fixed and mobile plant & equipment
  • Diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
  • Sourcing required parts/consumables and site inventory control
  • Coordination of additional resources required for breakdown response or planned maintenance activities
  • General fabrication, welding, and machining as required
  • Completion of documentation and maintenance records.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Relevant trade qualification
  • Experience in maintenance of relevant equipment – heavy mobile equipment, conveyors and similar.
  • Hands-on fault finding/diagnostic skills
  • A clean, full Class 1 driver’s licence
  • Good communication skills and a desire to work autonomously and as part of a team

Paying within the range of $36+ per hour (experience dependent) you will be rewarded for your efforts and working for an essential employer with great job security and room to grow up and across should you so wish.

This role is based with a friendly and supportive team that is personable and comfortable in their work and where the team pride themselves in being part of a friendly environment.
