Kaupapa Māori Registered Nurse

Alongside kaiawhina, nurse educator and local agencies, you'll support whānau from Tūrangi through to Taupō with progressive life limiting illness

What’s on offer?

  • $63,241 - $90,573 per annum based on experience
  • Use of a pool car
  • Flexible working hours (16 - 40 hours per week ideally)
  • Excellent induction, ongoing professional and personal support including supervision and EAP
  • Ongoing opportunity for training and education and support to complete Post Graduate Palliative Care qualifications, if you don’t already have them

This Taupō based charitable trust provides quality wrap-around community based hospice and specialist palliative care services to people with progressive life limiting illness, and their whānau. Community and whānau are at the heart of this organisation.

About the job

  • Enrich the lives of patients and their whānau through holistic, compassionate and high quality community based palliative care
  • Work with whānau as pou aroha to ensure the best physical, emotional/mental, and spiritual care is received before the person dies in their preferred place
  • Cover a geographical region; mainly Tūrangi through to Taupō
  • Provide wrap around care, symptom and pain management
  • Work alongside nursing, support worker colleagues alongside local kaiawhina and community agencies
  • Due to challenges of recent years, some of our whānau are presenting late to the service with complexities.
  • There are lots of opportunities here to bring community organisations and agencies together to better support whānau in a kaupapa māori way.
  • Requires a commitment to clinical quality and safety

About you

  • Positive and passionate about supporting whānau in the community
  • A Registered Nurse with current APC
  • Clinical confidence with an ability to be accountable and a love of finding solutions
  • Ideally you’ll have some community nursing, palliative and / or hospice experience but we are open to nurses with a heart for whānau and kaupapa māori values
  • Understanding of Tikanga and Te Reo Māori and applying that in your mahi
  • Aligned to the values of Respect – Whakarangatira, Excellence – Kairangi, Trust – Whakawhirinaki, Partnership – Mahi Ngātahi and Compassion – Aroha
  • Full Drivers license
