Head of Engineering

The Role

This is a newly created leadership role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. You’ll oversee the full engineering organisation — including hardware, mechanical, electrical, embedded systems, mobile apps, and backend cloud infrastructure. The primary focus will be to refine, validate, and scale our prototype through to a reliable, manufacturable consumer product.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and drive the company’s engineering vision and roadmap in alignment with business objectives
• Lead and grow a high-performing, cross-functional team of engineers and technical specialists
• Oversee all stages of product development – from concept to design validation, production readiness, and manufacturing ramp-up
• Own the development of technical specifications, architecture decisions, and system-level requirements
• Ensure robust validation (EVT, DVT, PVT) and quality assurance for a production-ready product
• Collaborate closely with product, manufacturing, and supply chain stakeholders across regions
• Champion best practices in engineering delivery, testing, documentation, and risk mitigation
• Build scalable processes that enable fast, high-quality iteration and continuous improvement

About You

We’re looking for a seasoned technical leader with deep experience shipping complex hardware-software products. You’re passionate about building not only great products but great teams, and you understand what it takes to go from prototype to scale.

Ideal Experience:

• Solid engineering experience, with several years in technical leadership roles
• Expertise in robotics, embedded systems, consumer hardware, or IoT devices
• Proven track record of managing multidisciplinary engineering teams (hardware, software, firmware, etc.)
• Strong understanding of product lifecycle, validation phases, and transitioning to volume manufacturing
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and international suppliers
• Hands-on approach to mentoring teams and solving tough technical problems
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
