The Role
In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of strategy, governance and delivery. You’ll provide leadership across multiple specialist functions, ensuring data, information and geospatial capabilities are aligned, well-governed and delivering real value across the organisation.
You won’t be hands-on technically - instead, you’ll lead leaders, set direction, balance priorities, and create the conditions for teams to succeed. Your influence will be felt across the organisation, shaping how decisions are made and how insight is generated.
- Setting the strategic direction for enterprise data, information management and geospatial services
- Leading and supporting three Team Leaders across these specialist domains
- Establishing strong governance, assurance and prioritisation frameworks
- Championing data-informed decision-making at all levels of the organisation
- Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and data sovereignty requirements
- Building strong partnerships with internal leaders, sector peers, vendors and mana whenua
- Translating digital and organisational strategy into coordinated, achievable roadmaps
- Fostering collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement across teams
About You
You’re an experienced senior leader with depth across data, information and/or geospatial environments, and a proven ability to operate at an enterprise level. You’re comfortable influencing at executive level, providing assurance, and navigating complexity - without needing to be the technical expert in the room.
You lead through others. You value trust, autonomy and shared purpose, and you’re known for bringing people together around a clear vision. You care deeply about enabling better decisions, better services and better outcomes through high-quality information.
- Extensive senior leadership experience, ideally across multiple technical or digital domains
- Proven success leading other leaders and aligning cross-functional teams
- Strong capability in data and information governance at an enterprise scale
- Experience translating strategy into action through prioritisation and governance
- Confidence engaging with executives, stakeholders and partners
- An appreciation of cultural considerations, data sovereignty and partnership approaches
- A values-driven leadership style that supports capability growth and innovation
