This nationwide organisation is a leading provider of home and community-based healthcare and support. They support people to remain active, safe and independent in their homes and community. They have a great team of nurses nationwide providing district, home-based, palliative, wound care, and short-term rehab nursing care.
About the role
- Working autonomously in the community supporting a geographical region (we try to give you a region close to where you live to reduce your daily travel time) and delivering a high-quality of clinical service to clients
- The home base is either the office in Christchurch or Kaiapoi
- You’ll mainly be undertaking wound care. This could be simple skin tears and post-op surgical wounds or complex including NPWT dressings, compression bandaging and complicated post-op wounds.
- In addition, catheter care (IDC and SPC), medication administration, general health assessments as well as palliative and end-of-life care
- Ensuring compliance with referrer instruction, GP orders and established policies and procedures
- You will work with an inspiring and supportive manager who cares about you professionally and personally. She is a wound care specialist so a fantastic internal resource to develop your skills and knowledge in this area.
Hours of work
- We need full and part-time nurses - talk to us about preferred hours.
- Rotating roster across seven days with shifts mostly between 8 am and 4.30 pm
- Evening shifts are from midday to 8.30 pm and cover the insulin run
- There is an evening on-call component - typically for blocked catheters or palliative care clients.
- There is a social roster in operation with four requests per month for days off and a desire to accommodate you as much as possible.
About you
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with strong surgical / wound experience. In addition:
- Good clinical assessment skills
- Confident in your abilities, but not afraid to seek out help if you need it
- An excellent communicator – able to develop trust and relationships quickly and easily
- Able to work autonomously and independently
- Adaptable and flexible. Able to change priorities and adapt your schedule with ease
- Excellent documentation skills and technically savvy - you'll be working online and offline remotely with a laptop and phone while on the go
- Full Driver’s License
