  • Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair damaged or worn-out vehicle components where required.
  • Implement measures to improve fuel efficiency in the fleet vehicles, reducing the environmental impact and promoting sustainability.
  • Collaborate effectively with fleet managers, supervisors, and team members to report vehicle conditions, maintenance needs, and repair timelines.
  • Provide technical support and training to other mechanics and fleet personnel as required.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic in a heavy industry vehicle context.
  • Trade qualification in Heavy Automotive Engineering - Level 4.
  • Strong hydraulic & automotive electric systems diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards for vehicle maintenance.
  • Proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques.
  • A clean, full NZ Class 1 & 5 driver’s licence with a current NZ forklift licence.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Outstanding communication skills to liaise with team members and management.
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and waste management best practices.

In return, this employer is offering a very competitive hourly rate of up to $40 per hour commensurate with your experience and the current market.
