The Role
Core Focus: Driving the advancement of data governance, quality, privacy, and risk management capabilities across operational and analytical data assets. Playing a key role in uplifting data quality in an enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Governance & Strategy: Lead the development and execution of strategies, policies, and best practices for managing NZ data assets across their lifecycle.
- Quality & Ownership: Act as a subject matter expert for data quality, establishing frameworks for data ownership/stewardship and embedding quality principles with Data Engineering teams.
- Privacy & Risk: Lead the management of PII data (classification, access rights) and drive the adoption of capabilities like Privacy by Design and PIA methodologies in partnership with the Privacy & Customer Trust COE.
- Enablement: Oversee the successful implementation and adoption of data governance tools and manage the development of data documentation.
- Group Partnership: Represent the New Zealand team for data quality and governance in Group Data Quality, Privacy, Risk, and Management forums.
About You
- Data Governance: Solid and practical experience (5 - 10 years) dedicated to data governance methodologies and principles.
- Tooling: Proven, hands-on experience with data management tools like Collibra and Ataccama is beneficial. Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence is also beneficial.
- Transformation & Agile: Experience with transformation/change management and a strong understanding of Agile delivery principles.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading teams, fostering a culture of development, and providing coaching/mentorship.
- Certification: IAPP, DAMA, or other related studies in privacy/governance are preferred.
