This role is not for the faint hearted, you will be joining their thriving laboratory where you will be processing biological (animal) samples.
They have a great yet rare opportunity for a Laboratory Technical Officer- Specimen Reception to join their busy and dynamic team where everyone is well respected. This is an immediate start, temporary role that will see you working through to the end of January 2023, hence, your availability to work during this period is essential (except for Public Holidays).
Preferably, you will have 1-2 years' experience in a similar role. However, we are also open to a hardworking graduate who will be able to learn quickly! Your resilience, diligence and bright positive attitude will see you succeed in this role.
What will you be doing?
- Effectively and efficiently managing specimen reception and facilitating timely submission and distribution of samples to laboratories
- Capturing data in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Facilitate sub-contracted testing of samples nationally and/or internationally
- Maintain positive working relationships with staff, stakeholders, regulatory bodies and other external agencies
- Ensuring protocols are strictly adhered to and compliance to standards, procedures and documentations are maintained at all times
- Liaise with customers via phone and email
What skills and experience do you bring?
- Tertiary qualification in Science, preferably in Biological Science
- Experience in Laboratory Information Systems is highly regarded
- An understanding of end-to-end specimen reception process
- High level of verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy
