About Shaun:

Hands-on Construction Project Manager with good knowledge of both new builds and refurbishment across the commercial sector within the United Kingdom. Experience in overseeing and completing projects ranging from NZD 450,000 to NZD 11m on time and within budget. Started as a Management Trainee in 2013 whilst undertaking my degree in Construction Management and began work as a Project Manager in 2018. Good communicator with an exceptional customer satisfaction record and success in coordinating a workforce. Familiar with NZ workplace culture through having previously worked and lived in NZ on a holiday visa.

Project Experience

  • Westminster College Refurbishment – approx. value NZD 9m
  • St Bede’s Inter-Church School refurbishment & extensions – approx. value NZD 11m Project Manager
  • World War Nuclear Bunker refurbishment – approx. value NZD 6m
  • Colin Forbes Building new build extension – approx. value NZD 4m
  • Radioactive Store modular units – approx. value NZD 900,000
  • Stephen Perse Eco Classroom – approx. value - NZD 470,000
  • Various small and general works projects from NZD 20,000 to NZD 950,000
  • West Road Roof replacement – approx. value - NZD 560,000

  • Completed numerous construction projects, in particular a challenging design and build project for an existing structure riddled with asbestos and being a listed building, for the University of Cambridge in an old Nuclear Bunker built for the British Government in the early 1950s.
  • Chair of Building Solutions (which undertakes works from NZD 1,000 - NZD 6,000,000) H&S Committee (Group Wide) to review trends and data in respect of active construction sites. This is then fed back to senior management with suggested actions developed. My greatest input was to suggest that project managers/site managers who attend meetings should bring a different person with them, such as a carpenter, a trainee site manager or an engineer. By doing this we learnt a lot from those at different levels and areas within the business and improved the H&S culture
  • Headed up the company’s General Works Department which undertakes works up to the value of NZD 6,000,000. During this time I rebuilt an entire team including Quantity Surveyors, Site Managers, Supervisors and Tradespeople
  • Lead the review of potential tenders, adjudicating them as well as discussing programmes and plans of work, to ensure that the department targets the correct work for the business
  • Completed my BSc Honours Degree part-time whilst working which was a rewarding challenge and which has in turn made me fully appreciate the trainees I work with, by providing support and encouragement
