Electrical Superintendent | November 2010 – July 2013

Managed and supported a team of electrical foremen performing maintenance work at the Sasol Synfuels site in Secunda, while also providing technical support on small to medium projects. My responsibilities included conducting QA/QC inspections in both hazardous and non-hazardous areas and giving daily progress feedback to the Electrical Manager. I additionally fulfilled Site Manager duties for six months, overseeing building maintenance across all Sasol Synfuels buildings and office facilities.

QA/QC Officer | November 2011 – October 2012

Managed electrical service providers performing maintenance at the Sasol Synfuels site in Secunda, ensuring all work complied with Sasol Standards and SANS 10142. My role involved overseeing full QA/QC processes, collaborating with project management teams on small projects and assisting in compiling scopes of work with budget owners and contractors. I verified progress against weekly schedules, reviewed and approved Quality Control Plans and ensured contractors worked strictly within their defined scope. Additionally, I advised clients on technical issues, participated in shutdown planning meetings and provided daily progress updates to the planning department ahead of PDR meetings.

Electrical Artisan | Decmber 2009 – October 2011

Responsible for installing and maintaining AUMA electrical actuators and performing a wide range of low- and medium-voltage plant maintenance including motors, transformers, switchgear, lighting and distribution systems. My duties included fault-finding on 525V, 6.6kV and 11kV equipment, conducting classified inspections and performing daily MV and LV switching in line with Sasol procedures. I also supervised service providers, completed routine plant, substation and lift inspections and supported medium-voltage switchgear replacement and preventive maintenance during shutdowns. Additional responsibilities included occasional acting-foreman duties, monthly standby duties and work with vibration-based continuous monitoring systems. I was recognised for my performance and awarded Electrical Artisan of the Year in the Gas Circuit Electrical group.

Maintenance Electrician/General Foreman | November 2001 – November 2009

Carried out electrical installations in hazardous areas and was responsible for the design and installation of 220/380/525V circuits, domestic electrical systems and conveyor belt installations. My work included installing and commissioning motor control centres, variable speed drives and performing regular maintenance on LV and MV switchgear and transformers. I also conducted inspections and ensured all electrical installations met SANS 10142 requirements across domestic, industrial and commercial environments.
