The Distribution Manager will play a critical role in optimising the supply chain, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of products to customers, and managing a team of dedicated professionals. - Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of distribution supervisors, coordinators, and warehouse staff. Foster a positive and productive work environment while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans for the distribution department to align with company goals and objectives. Continuously evaluate and improve distribution processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate all transportation, including inbound and outbound shipments, to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effectiveness. Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that products meet company standards and customer expectations. Investigate and resolve any distribution-related issues promptly.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in the warehouse and during transportation. Promote a culture of safety awareness among all distribution team members.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the efficiency and effectiveness of distribution operations. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control procedures to maintain accuracy of records and inventory integrity. Liaise with Inventory team to expedite variances, feedback on stocking levels, aging and new products.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage the distribution budget, controlling expenses and optimizing resource allocation to achieve cost-saving targets.
- Supplier Relations: Collaborate with suppliers to manage outstanding orders, optimize lead times, product quality, stocking requirements.
- Asset & Facility Management: Manage the presentation and maintenance of the Distribution facility, shelving and equipment requirements for safe and efficient operation, maintenance of all material handling equipment and other company assets.
- Customer Service Standards: Promote high service standards are being delivered to their dealer and trade customer network. Team are engaged in supporting customers and following up on enquiries and problems.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall distribution efficiency.
- Complete any other reasonable tasks required by management.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Distribution or Warehouse Manager or in a similar role with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- High work ethic and willingness to lead by example.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in distribution software and systems.
- Knowledge of industry best practices in logistics and distribution.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements and cost reductions.
- Training in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field would be an advantage.
