Professions in high demand -

Skill Shortages in New Zealand

Immigration New Zealand has acknowledged that certain skills are in particularly high demand in New Zealand and is making it easier for migrants with those occupations to apply for a resident or work visa.

The Immediate Skill Shortage List contains professions which are currently in high demand in New Zealand and shows qualifications and/or experience required for work visas as well as the recommended standard for work visa applicants with an offer of employment.

Due to high demand of skills for the rebuild of the Christchurch/Canterbury region, a new list, the Canterbury Skill Shortage List, has been released in November 2012, containing construction, engineering, telecommunications and trades professions.
