Skill shortages in New Zealand

Skill shortages are listed in two comprehensive lists, the Immediate Skill Shortage List and the Long Term Skill Shortage List.

Both lists are constantly updated by Immigration New Zealand to reflect the current labourmarket situation in New Zealand.

The aim is to attract skilled people and enable skilled migrants to fast track their work and residence permit applications.

1.The Immediate Skill Shortage List contains professions which are currently in high demand in New Zealand and shows qualifications and /or experience required for work permits and the recommended standard for work permit applicants with an offer of employment.

To view the latest Immediate Skill Shortage List, published in November 2007

2. The Long Term Skill Shortage List contains professions which are currently in extraordinarily high demand in New Zealand and shows qualifications and /or experience required for residence permits and bonus points under the Skilled Migrant Category.

To view the latest Long Term Skill Shortage List, published in November 2007
